We bought a house!

We’re made up to share that we have successfully completed the purchase of the first house in our Buy Back Anfield campaign!

Through a relationship with local social housing provider Riverside and with acquisition finance from Resonance we’ve secured our first residential-only property, 108 Thirlmere Road, now held in community ownership for generations to come.

This three bedroomed home has been sitting empty for over 18 months, and it shows. There are significant issues with damp and mould, but with professional retrofit support from People Powered Retrofit we’ll be turn it into a warm, affordable home for local people. The renovation work we’ll do will not only mean it’s no longer damp and mouldy, but the retrofit measures will also reduce energy bills, preventing tenants from living in fuel poverty.

But this isn’t just about one house, this is just the first - with three more also going through the sales process, and many more empty properties in the neighbourhood that, in the community’s hands, can become warm, affordable homes for local people.
